1. English Portion (20 Marks)
To master the English section of the LAT exam, focus on vocabulary building. HEC primarily tests your grasp of the English language through:
- Synonyms & Antonyms: Practice intermediate to advanced vocabulary words.
- Prepositions: Focus on appropriate prepositions (e.g., accused of, adjacent to).
2. General Knowledge (20 Marks)
This is the most vast section. Candidates should regularly read newspapers and stay updated on global events.
- World Geography (Oceans, Continents, Largest/Smallest).
- International Organizations (UN, SAARC, OIC) and their headquarters.
- Important global personalities and current heads of state.
- Everyday Science (Vitamins, basic physics, human body).
3. The Subjective Portion (25 Marks)
Pro Tip: You can attempt the Essay and Personal Statement in either English or Urdu. Choose the language you can write in flawlessly without grammatical errors. Do not mix languages!
The Essay (15 Marks): Usually based on current socio-economic issues of Pakistan, technology, or fundamental rights. You are expected to provide a structured argument with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a solid conclusion.
Personal Statement (10 Marks): This is an argumentative piece where you either agree or disagree with a given statement (e.g., "Social media is harming youth"). You must pick a clear stance and defend it.
